Outreach
"Our vision is to glorify God by…reaching out to each other, our
community, and the world, with the love of Christ."
Outreach: Faithfully reach out with the love of Christ to meet
physical and spiritual needs in our congregation, our local community,
and the world.
-The Vision Statement of South Dayton
Presbyterian Church

The purpose of MOPS is to nurture mothers of preschoolers by meeting
their distinct needs to the Glory of Jesus Christ. We aim to
minister to the mothers of preschoolers both at South Dayton
Presbyterian Church and in the surrounding community through monthly
meetings where moms can fellowship, enjoy speakers, and learn crafts.
Childcare is provided. There is a small annual membership fee.
MOPS meets one Friday each month from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at South Dayton Presbyterian Church [directions]
The dates for Winter 2010 are:

Youth Drama Team
The Youth Drama Team just completed their first
season of performances of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe by
C. S. Lewis. Our Lord graciously provided for us abundantly (with only a
50 cent shortfall on meeting our costs) and kept everyone safe and
healthy. The group consisted of 15 students, age 11 through 17, who gave
up their Friday evenings to practice at the church. The kids did a
great job in just 12 weeks of practice. A lot of stretching took place
this season because the students did not have a dress rehearsal in any
of the play locations. Our outreach performances at Saint Leonard’s
Assisted Living in Centerville, and the Eaglewood Nursing Home in
Springfield were very rewarding for the students as well as the
residents - many of whom are still talking about the play! We laughed a
lot this season, and grew to appreciate each other a bit more. We are
looking forward to our next season so keep checking back for further
information on play choices and audition time and dates.
Kick-off For Spring Season 2010

Operation Christmas Child, by Kathie Hill Musicals, the Youth Drama

School who are interested in theater. Remember, not only actors are
needed. Opportunities are available for Set and costume, lighting and
sound, as well as non-speaking roles.
If you are interested in being a part of this team,
download the information and registration form, fill it out
and turn it in to the SDPC office.

Summer Choral Camp
Each year, SDPC will be hosting a summer choral camp. This is an opportunity for students to gain valuable tools and
share a positive experience that will enhance their participation in
future choral opportunities. It is our goal that this would serve those
at SDPC as well as the surrounding community by providing a thorough,
quality choral camp experience.
Students will experience and receive instruction in Music
History/Great composers, Theory, Melodic and Rhythmic Ear Training,
Vocal Production, Diction for Singing, as well as prepare musical
selections. There will be a final presentation for family and
friends followed by a reception with refreshments.
The dates for the 2009 Choral Camp were July 6-11. Thanks
for a successful season with 70 students attending. Be sure to
take advantage of our early registration next year to be sure to get a
space as well as a discounted rate. To be put on our mailing list
for next year's camp, contact the
church office.

The Psalms Circle - A Women's ministry
“A devoted believer will pray for God’s deliverance from problems, but a
wiser one will pray for God’s use of them” --
David Jeremiah
The Psalms Circle has two purposes: to study a Psalm each month with
the above thought in mind and to provide a safe place to express our
struggles and receive comfort and strength from the body of Christ.
Needing each other is not a weakness; it is our strength. It is by
God’s design that we were made to need each other. To be alone in our
struggles, alone in our suffering, cuts us off from a major source of
God’s grace.
Ladies, you need not be struggling with a major crisis to belong to
the Psalms Circle – just a fellow traveler on the rocky journey to
becoming more Christ-like and learning to love and know Him better.
The Psalms Circle will meet at the home of Dot Weldon on the first Monday night
of each month, beginning in June, 2009. A light snack and social time
will be held from 6:30-7:00, with the study, taught by Debbie Holt,
beginning at 7:00. Each evening will end with a time of spiritual
sharing and focused prayer for one another.
Please consider joining us. If you have any questions, please
contact
Debbie Holt.
