Vision and Goals
Motto
Preparing women to serve for the glory of God
Vision Statement
Bringing women together in Christ for encouragement,
service and spiritual growth
Goal Statement
The goal of Women's Ministry at South Dayton Presbyterian Church is
to help every woman better understand the covenant of grace and the role
it plays in her life and the life of the church. We desire to
provide a framework, built on and sustained by prayer that will:
- Teach women a biblical perspective of their covenantal
relationship with Christ, their family, the church and their
community
- Exhort women to fulfill and understand their helper design
- Teach women to nurture and care for one another, and to glorify
God by obeying the Titus mandate (Titus 2:1-5)
- Teach and provide opportunities for women to be instruments of
compassion (Micah 6:8)
- Equip and provide opportunities for women in roles of service
and leadership within the church under the headship of the Elders

Ministry Opportunities
Ladies Sunday School
"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching,
for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness that the
man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."
- II Timothy 3:16-17
"Biblical Foundations for Womanhood ": teacher, Dot Weldon
This is a PCA study to help every woman in the church know Christ
personally and be committed to extending Hs kingdom in her life, home,
church, community, and throughout the world. Thinking and living
biblically can be challenging in an ever-increasingly secular culture.
This class will give you valuable resources for personal growth and will
serve as a means to help SDPC women develop friendships with one another
for the purpose of serving Christ together.
This class meets in the Worship Center.

The purpose of MOPS is to nurture mothers of preschoolers by meeting
their distinct needs to the Glory of Jesus Christ. We aim to minister
to the mothers of preschoolers both at South Dayton Presbyterian Church
and in the surrounding community through monthly meetings where moms can
fellowship, enjoy speakers, and learn crafts. Childcare is provided.
There is a small annual membership fee.
MOPS usually meets the second Friday each month from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
at South Dayton Presbyterian Church [directions]

Playgroup
Playgroup is a meeting of mothers with children ages 4 yrs and under.
Children get a chance to play and make new friends while moms socialize,
share concerns, and swap parenting tips. Playgroup meets from
10:00-11:30 a.m. every
Friday except for once a month when there is a
MOPS meeting (usually the
second Friday). These meetings may take place in
someone's home or at the church. Fieldtrips to local parks and
attractions are scheduled periodically and as weather permits. For
more information or to find out where the group is meeting each week,
contact
Sarah Kuhlman.

Ladies' Bible Study
The Ladies' Bible Study meets every Thursday morning at 9:30 AM at
the home of
Dot Weldon (about 5 minutes from our church). Childcare is provided
at the church if you need it (we use a professional childcare provider
called Sitter Connection). Currently, the women in our group are engaged
in an enriching and in-depth study of I John. We are about 25 in number
and vary in age from 20 to 80—a truly intergenerational Bible study
group.
Our group follows the model of the first-century church as described in
Acts 2:42 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to
the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." We close
the formal part of the Bible study at 10:45 AM with prayers for the
individual needs in the group, for the church, and for our country and
the world.
Bibliophiles
The name means “lovers of books.” This book discussion group is open
to all women in SDPC and is lead by Ellen Mosher, who is also the church
librarian.
The purpose of the group is to promote and encourage the reading and
enjoyment of quality Christian books. The group meets once every three
months to discuss that quarter’s selection. The cycle of reading we have
settled into includes: Winter – Christian Classic, Spring – Christian
Biography, Summer – Christian novel, Autumn – Christian Living.
Each quarter's gathering is on a Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and
involves a discussion of the book read as well as appropriate Scripture.
We take turns meeting in someone's home.
Contact
Ellen to find out the current book and the time and place for the
next discussion. We hope to see you there!
Meals
Those who participate in this ministry prepare and provide meals for
people in need of relief. Contact
Sarah Kuhlman if you would like to become part of this team.
You will be contacted when there is a need and Sarah will work with you
to choose a day/time that fits your schedule.
